About Us
The Grand Traverse Event Center space has welcomed weddings, business meetings, and private events for more than 12 years, offering a flexible, well-equipped venue in Traverse City. GTEC provides a versatile blank slate for gatherings of up to 150 guests, complete with a full catering kitchen, full-service bar, and capacity for audiovisual and event logistics.
For the past six years, we’ve been owned and managed by Stuart Lazar, bringing hands-on leadership and local knowledge to every event. During that time, we’ve hosted hundreds of weddings and corporate events while building strong relationships with many of the region’s caterers, rental companies, DJs, and other event professionals, helping couples and other clients plan confidently and efficiently.
We prides ourselves on being approachable, flexible, and refreshingly straightforward. From vendor coordination to sharing recommendations for lodging, dining, and things to do, we are always happy to help out-of-town guests feel at home. We are located at 738 S. Garfield Avenue in Traverse City, just five minutes from downtown. Our central location makes it easy for local guests and especially convenient for out-of-town visitors staying downtown. No shuttles or rental cars required.

Venue rental includes use of the event space, tables and chairs, basic linens, access to our full catering kitchen, and on-site staff support. Can we choose our own caterer and vendors?

Yes. GTEC is a flexible, vendor-friendly banquet hall. You’re welcome to bring in your own caterer and vendors, and we’re happy to coordinate with them directly. After years of hosting weddings and events, we also have strong relationships with many trusted local professionals if you’d like recommendations.
